5 questions from Mia.

Got this from Mia's LJ...

1) Any plans to audition for a play soon?
I already did 2 Saturdays ago, hahaha. But yes, I do have plans to audition, but I need to find another upcoming play first. =) If you know any, please let me know, hehehe.

2) Which do you prefer: front end (onstage) or back end (backstage?)
Damn, tough choice. I love both so much! Each place has its own perks. Maybe it all depends on what production it is, hehe.

3) What are your pet peeves?
Off the top of my head, I'd say poor grammar. It drives me crazy. (I'll edit this when I think of more.)

4) If you were a kind of drink, which drink would you be?
A Long Island iced tea. =) But if it's not an alcoholic drink, I'd be strawberry Kool-Aid... with vodka, hahaha.

5) Favorite line from a script?
Noooo! I only have to pick one? There's so many to choose from! So for now, I'd say...
"Art... Waste of time!" by Sister Aloysius.
Hahaha! If I change my mind, I'll go back to this and edit. =)

This past weekend.

So Avenue Q had finally closed last Saturday. One week of nothing much to do. As you can tell, I decided not to go to Palawan, and stay instead for Make Believe.

Last Friday morning, I got a text from Sam. She was offering me the day off from ushering because Reb wanted to usher for one show, if I wanted to, that is. Anyway, I was pretty easy to talk to, so I let Reb take my post. Given that I had nothing to do that night, I debated with myself whether to still go to RCBC for Avenue Q or maybe attend the Philstage awards in CCP. Ended up going to the latter.

I arrived about an hour early in CCP, so I killed time in the lobby with the current book that I was reading. I got a little bored, so I went to say hi to an old flame. Killed more time in the lobby until open house. Noticed a bit of awkwardness, so once inside the theater, I sat beside Sir Jethro and Sir Jed. Wahahaha. There were pretty few attendees of the event, but even with that, I'm just glad to be there, as I didn't get to go last year, when Tad was also a nominee.

Cocktails were served in the LT lobby after the awards, but while everyone headed straight for the food, I managed to chat with a couple of old friends before eating. Sat with Prof Arvin when I finally settled down to eat, and I had to endure his fanaticism, despite the fact that he was a member of the Philstage jury, hahaha. Well, at least I got to talk to some of the winners, and talking to Liesl Batucan was pretty amusing, as I've told her that I've been watching her in Rep for over a decade now. She thought that Prof was just a theater enthusiast, until I mentioned that he was part of Philstage, hahaha. Anyway, I joined in on Prof's camwhoring, until everyone had already left the lobby, then we headed home together, as we're both from the South.

I didn't really think much about Avenue Q's closing. It was kind of uneventful for me. It was like any other show day. Rosa got to watch the afternoon show, though, and she also got to join in on the buffet that was set for us in between shows. She got to meet my Atlantis family, and then some. There was quite an amusing conversation between her and Mahar about Swiss men, among other things, wahahaha. I loved how they clicked when they had just met that very afternoon while we were eating.

Rosa and I spent the rest of my vacant time just chatting up a storm. I was so glad that she did decide to come watch. She was treated to a free show, free food, good conversation and a lot of laughs, everything that she needed at the right time.

Yesterday, I got to watch TP Actors' Company's acting recital, their last recital for this season. I got Joms to join me, and in turn, he invited Alys to join us. Yay, the more, the merrier.

As usual, I arrived in CCP way too early, as the weather's been weird. It looked like it was going to rain, but not quite. Settled back in the LT lobby with my book, until I heard voices outside the Batute. Yep, there was the AC, having their early dinner before the recital. Sat next to Bong and talked for a while, trying to ignore Chrome's quips which turn out to be true. I should've been used to his quips, ever since he started it about someone else concerning me some years ago, hahaha.

While hanging out alone back in the lobby, Tony joined me at the table so we chatted a bit while he ate his food. Ed also came by a couple of times and mentioned that I come back as Labfest staff, as they're already hunting for people already. We'll see, Ed.

Reg and I were the first people inside the theater once the house opened. I haven't seen her in ages, since our workshop in 2008, I think. And even then, we hardly ever talked because even though we're always early for class, I'd be busy rehearsing with a classmate while she'd be on her own studying her script.

Anyway, AC's acting recital consisted of 3 play excerpts. The first was Ahente, a Filipino translation of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. Tad and Chrome were pretty impressive as Willy Loman and Biff respectively. It always seems as if their eyes spoke volumes no matter how moderate or heavy the scenes were. One line was spot on... "Paano ba maibalik yung gaya nung araw?" Oh, sigh. Anyway, the 2nd excerpt was from Jean Anouilh's Ring Around The Moon. Russell and Kat were hilarious as they spoke in English accents, and their exchanges were quite challenging as they had to dance the tango at the same time. Finally, the last was David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly, with Bong as Song Liling and Riki as Rene. I think Bong had about 7 costume changes, from kimonos, a cheongsam, and even stripping butt naked. They were brilliant. All of them, really.

Congratulations to TP Actors' Company! Another season's over. Good job!

After the show, Joms, Alys and I waited for everyone to emerge from the theater. Apparently, both of them had eye candy during the entire show, hahaha.

A little moment when everyone had already left. Gave Tad a jar of pesto as a congratulatory gift (supposedly if ever he won that Philstage award, but it turned out to be for the recital, hahaha), and hopefully there would be a lot left over for his parents' wedding anniversary on Thursday. Awkward silent moments, and maybe it was me, but there could be a glimmer of hope. Oh, but I guess I should stop hoping for something that won't come.

Went to Greenbelt with Joms and Alys, where we met up with Tracy and Tiffy at Seattle's Best. They were meeting up about a project that they were doing at CSR, and it sounded pretty cool. Anyway, because we were starving and a little low on budget, Joms and I walked to Wendy's to buy food and ate it while we were sitting in Seattle's, hahaha. After quite some chitchat, Joms decided to call it a night, and I hitched a ride home with him. Bonding in the car, and it was punctuated with a monologue he did, wahahaha.

Holy week. What to do, what to do on these vacant days.

A sort-of dilemma, but will decide on it by tonight.

I have a dilemma since yesterday, and I'm still trying to decide today on what to do. I talked it out with some friends, and they all said the same thing, which was the same advice I once told Lara. In the end, it's all up to me.

It was a choice of a week of hiking in Palawan during Holy Week, or I should stay for Make Believe's teacher's training session with Lesley, Lara and the rest of the gang. I first decided on the Palawan trip on a whim, because I told myself that I needed a change of scenery, and to keep from not thinking about certain things. But then Lesley sent us a message on Facebook about the meeting dates, which falls on certain days during the same week.

It was a choice between a break for me, a change of pace, or for the Make Believe staff and kids.

I just talked to Drei, who was the one who invited me to the Palawan trip, and he said that it was alright if I backed out. Nahihiya lang ako because if it were the other way around, ako ang magtatampo ng bongga sa kanya, which I always do when he or our other friends flake out.

I'll make my final decision tonight.

In other news, I was surprised to receive a text from my mom last night that she was going to Naic with Ate Luz. When I got home from RCBC, she told me to call me. My cousin, Kuya Nonong, had died last night from pulmonary cardiac arrest. May God bless his soul.

AC recital, BFFs at Greenbelt, and Wedding Singer auditions.

I went to watch the TP Actors' Company's voice and dance recital last on Thursday evening. I always try to watch at least one of their recitals if it's open to the public.

I can actually still remember the first time I heard about the TP Actors' Company's recitals way back in 2005. Some girl had called our office, requesting if Chari could watch Tanghalang Pilipino's recital for their audition class. I remember scribbling the name "Wenah" on my notepad along with her contact number before I had contacted Chari about the phone call. The following weekend, I had the opportunity to watch their company's play, and a day after that, Wenah had called the office again to follow up on her request. After my confirmation of Chari's attendance, I shyly admitted that I had watched their show the day before, but was way too shy to ask about their classes and recitals. I finally got to watch one of their recitals a couple of years later when Nicco was finally part of the company as a scholar.

Anyway, enough of the history lesson.

So I managed to catch the recital that day, and instead of the usual Conference Room as their recital venue, it was at the Little Theater stage, which still had the bleachers set-up onstage as Tatlong Mariya was still running. Sosyal ha, LT na ang recital ng AC, hehe. As it was still a casual event, all guests were told to enter through the backstage entrance. Well, there were really only a few of us who came and watched the show, so it was no biggie.

Unlike the last voice and dance recital I got to watch 2 years ago, this one wasn't in groups. Everyone had to do their own solo song and dance. They alternated each song between each dance, and I have to say that I was pretty impressed, because, hey, I'm no dancer, hahaha. Pero in fairness, parang pang-BP nga ang ginawa nila, hehe. They each choreographed their own dance, and as for the songs, instead of the usual contemporary or musical theater songs, they pulled out monologues from plays and transformed them into songs.

I know I already congratulated them as a shout out on my Facebook, but congratulations again to the TP Actors Company. Idol ko talaga kayo, hehehe.

Dyown had texted me on Thursday night if we could meet up on Friday with Micah. I had to decline, because I might just hang out at The Wedding Singer auditions during the day. By the time I was at home late at night, I changed my mind and told them that I'd meet them.

We met up at Glorietta (we were all late, hahaha), and by the time we were all there, we were starving. Had lunch at Chef D'Angelo and caught up on each other's news. It was great to see Micah and Dyown again. I think the last time I saw them was last year, when they dropped by Taft to meet Nar and me, sometime around February. Anyway, we shared updates, randomness, and the occasional angst over lunch.

After lunch, we had walked aimlessly for a good 15 minutes until we had finally decided to head over to Red Mango in Greenbelt 3. On the way there, we passed by Timezone, and I couldn't resist trying out this new game that seems to be always occupied, Technika. IN fairness, masaya siya. Anyway, after a few games (with Micah still holding her phone while playing air hockey with Dyown), we finally headed up to Red Mango. Yum, frozen yogurt, good company, photo ops, a little more angst, and crazy Dyown anecdotes, hahaha! We killed a little more time than expected, as Micah was still meeting up with her cousins in Trinoma.

Dropped by POC to check out The Wedding Singer auditions for a while, and they kept bugging me to audition that day. Ahahaha, sorry, I couldn't. I left after an hour for RCBC for Avenue Q.

Yesterday was the 2nd day for The Wedding Singer auditions. I had finally gathered enough guts and shame to audition first thing. I had to meet up with Dingdong first so we can walk to Infinitif together, but by the time I had arrived at our meet-up place in Starbucks, he was still home. Arg... Oh well, at least I still had time to kill.

There were already a whole bunch of people at Infinitif when we arrived, and by the time they spotted me, someone was already shoving an audition form in my hand, hahahaha. Anyway, my plan for the day was to just get in there and sing, then walk to RCBC for Avenue Q's matinee show. But after singing my second song, Robbie then told me to stay for the dance callbacks at 2pm. Ack... Pauline was gonna kill me, even though Claire had assured me that it was alright.

Because I wasn't really counting on being at the dance callbacks, I had no extra clothes with me, and to think that I had come in my usual jeans and shirt. The only extra shirt I had was my Avenue Q shirt. By the time almost all the dance callback people had arrived in their dance clothes, I decided to take a chance and change into the other shirt so I can move better. We were then called in groups inside the room for Francis to teach us the dance for "It's Your Wedding Day" chorus. Holy kamote, for the life of me, I can never follow dance steps that quickly, but go pa rin ako, hahaha. After a while, I still couldn't get the hang of the last part, so when our group evacuated the room for the next batch, Anna, Shelyn, Bulinggit and I went two floors up to rehearse the entire dance. Thanks to Bulings, we finally got the hang of it after a while.

After everyone has been taught the dance, we were then called in smaller groups of about 6 people. Holy kamote, here we go. We got to run it twice for rehearsal, then we were told to dance it twice while in two lines. Huwaw. I didn't care anymore how dugyot I looked. Like I used to tell myself, if all else fails, smile na lang, hahaha.

I was sweating like a pig by the time it was over, so I changed back into my other shirt. Then I headed on over to RCBC in time for the ending of Avenue Q's matinee.

I have to say, even though I'm always afraid of auditions, I had a blast yesterday.

I need to stop thinking.

I don't get it.

I try to make casual conversation, tapos galit at defensive na kaagad? Without fail, ganun lagi ang pagsalita? Parang sinasadya na mawalan ka ng gana kausap eh.

But thanks, Tita Amy, for that heart-to-heart conversation.

I don't get it. (Again.)

Maybe I'm just dense. I just came for purely business, pero bakit parang may hidden motive pala ang isang tao? Pero wala daw talaga, nadala lang daw talaga. Ang labo.

Monday, March 15, 2010

So far, so good, but everything is only for now.

Avenue Q's first weekend just ended. Two more weekends to go. I'm still on ushering duty, and I have to be honest, but ushering for this is easier than the last one. (Some of you may know why.)

I won a free buffet dinner from a raffle last month, and I decided to indulge myself ever since I sort of altered my eating habits. I need to spoil myself every once in a while. So as a spur-of-the-moment follow-up to our coffee session one time, I invited Joel to pig out with me last Wednesday, as the gift certificate was good for 2. He returned the favor in Starbucks after dinner.

Immediately reported to Avenue Q for ushering duties the following day, side by side with the Blue Rep people. I didn't mind doing little ushering duties for this show, because Avenue Q has a special place in my heart (ahahaha) because I was there when its first Manila run began.

I have to say, there are still some times that I hate to be alone with my thoughts, so I always try to surround myself with friends who won't talk about certain topics to distract me, or I just try to keep myself busy with other things. But I still believe that these feelings will pass soon. Like they said in Avenue Q, "everything in life is only for now."

Got to watch Tatlong Mariya again with Betty, Opa, Tin, Rayna, Lucien, Carms and Jay. We decided to sit on the bleachers parallel to where Betty, Opa, Joey and I sat during one of the preview shows. My goodness, now there's a group of talented actors. I haven't finished reading the English text yet (as I'm still in Act 1), but this talkie piece is really intense. I love how the ensemble worked together.

I'd rather not write a critique anymore. I'd rather not make much comments on this, because I only wanted to watch it again to enjoy the piece even more. Isn't it more enjoyable to do just that instead of being so critical of everything?

And by the way, I wish others wouldn't be so defensive and short-tempered. I'm just trying to make conversation.

By the way, I learned something new this past week. The Greek word "hypokrites" (known in English as "hypocrite") used to be a technical term for a stage actor. Randomly sharing.

The wonders of randomness.

Even though I almost always prefer to be prepared for certain things, I do enjoy a bit of randomness from time to time. Which is why last year's Tagaytay road trip was one of the highlights of last year. We just decided to go on a whim, as it started with just a quip, and we didn't plan anything on the day itself. It's amazing how a very small amount of money could go a long way that day.

I also like how random Facebook can be. I always smile whenever I see the right part of the screen list a friend that I haven't talked to in ages, and Facebook would say, "Reconnect with him/her" or "Say hello." It reminds me of what I always used to do to my friends. Call them on their landline, or send a personal text message to simply tell them that I miss them.

Drei is the master of randomness. He once called me while I was at work, so I had to leave the theater just to take his call. And the first thing he said to me when I answered the call was, "How does Palawan sound?" Niiiice. We'll see, but I can't wait!

Of course, Drei was also the one who introduced me to MLIA (MyLifeIsAverage.com). I love that site. Reading all those entries always makes you look at life a little differently, and make the little things more fun. Good vibes like simple joys and optimism are the ones that give me lots more good reason to smile every day.

Avenue Q re-opens this Friday. A play that's not entirely positive, but still makes you feel hopeful. Chapters have closed in my book, but to quote a line from Sweet Charity, I'm now living "hopefully ever after."

Wait, I don't think that last part made sense. Oh well, hahaha.

Trekking to UP for They're Playing Our Song.

I saw this event on Facebook that I was invited to not too long ago. It was a thesis production of They're Playing Our Song at UP. Meynard, the director, was the one doing the invites, I think. I loved the music of this particular musical, and what made it even more appealing was that it was free, so of course, I just had to watch.

I had worked with Meynard when I was doing an OJT for Trumpets' The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and apparently I had also worked with the guy who's playing Vernon. I had met Jeremy during my first paying job at Atlantis' Urinetown.

Anyway, I haven't had much quality time with Lara and Dingdong in months, so I invited them to come watch with me. We agreed to watch yesterday's matinee at 3pm. We met up at McDonald's Philcoa for lunch (because Lara had no idea how to get there, and that's where I usually get off from my ride from Buendia), then hopped on a jeep to UP. It was already 15 minutes before 3pm when we got to the Faculty Center (the show was at the THY), but the house wasn't open yet, so we had to wait for a few more minutes. Meynard was actually the one who announced open house, and despite the fact that we were told to follow the ushers when they seat us, I still insisted on sitting on the very first row in the middle. Hehe, brat lang. We were almost told by an usher to move to the bleachers, but I think I saw Meynard tell her that it was OK that we already sit there. Yay, thanks, Meynard.

Even though I was very familiar with the play's material for as long as I can remember, I had never seen a performance of They're Playing Our Song, so this was a treat for me. Even though it was just a thesis production of Mica Pineda (the girl who played Sonya), I was entertained during the entire show. Her quirky, upbeat energy complimented Jeremy's uptight character that was still bursting with energy that matched hers. Though there were times in the beginning that her low notes couldn't really be heard, but she warmed up pretty quickly. The alter egos were quite a sight to see in their sparkly retro costumes, but it seems as if the ladies lack a little bit of energy to mirror Sonya's. The guys, on the other hand, were funnier to watch, especially when they transformed themselves into that British car with headlights and a trunk, plus a little smoke to boot when the car overheated, hahaha! And I don't know if it was just me, but there was a time during the dinner when when Sonya looked a little too spaced out while she was looking directly into Vernon's eyes, as if she wasn't really listening, just waiting for her cue. Oh well.

But comments aside, we totally enjoyed the play. Let's just say that it was the right play to watch at the right time. =)

Congratulations to Mica Pineda (nice meeting you, by the way), Jeremy Aguado and Meynard Penalosa. Good job, you guys!

Lara, Dingdong and I walked to Chocolate Kiss after the show so we can talk and bond over dinner. Haha, we even made a little stopover at a fishball vendor behind the Music building to have some chicken balls as appetizer.

Quotable quotes of yesterday.
- (About auditions) "Di pa ako ready kumanta." "Pero handa ka nang maghubad?"
- (When Dingdong's dessert orders weren't available) "Sir, kumain na raw po kasi kayo. Hindi available ang mga order niyo eh."
- Lara the "hermitanyo."

It was a day really well-spent. Lara and I spent the entire commute home just talking, right on until when we reached outside my village, where "the other Lara" was picking her up. It's great being with both my dashing divas again.

Improv theater at its best.

It's been quite a long while since I last saw a performance of SPIT (Silly People's Improv Theater). I believe the last time was when they performed at the CCP for Earth Day last year, along with Nar and this one talented toymaker. But even though I hardly get to watch any of their performances, I still consider myself a fan ever since I first watched them way back in 2004.

Peachy had texted me the other evening asking the Rent cast and staff if anyone would be interested to watch SPIT's show this week (which was last night) at Mag:Net Bonifacio High Street. Of course, I eagerly sent my reply.

Met up with Tin at Every Nation during the late afternoon, and we headed to Market Market to have a light dinner. Settled at KFC where Peach caught up with us, and we went around for a while, just following Peach as she searched for a hair dryer in the department store and various stuff in National Bookstore. Aside from Peachy's purchases, all three of us ended up buying similar pens, hehehe. Anyway, Tin had to leave by then for her small group, so Peach and I went around the mall some more, just window-shopping, until we had to meet with Robbie, Teena and Sundee at Brothers Burger.

Teena brought Pixy Stix! Our sugar drug for the night, hahaha. After they had a bite at Brothers Burger, we all headed to Mag:Net. Ended up sitting at the table way up front. Haha, we were still at it with the Pixy Stix, but of course we had to buy some drinks as well. Gary also came and joined us, but I guess the rest couldn't make it.

The show started pretty late, but what the heck, it was totally worth it. I had never laughed my ass off that hard in quite a long time, so I was pretty glad to be entertained by the wonders of improv, something I'm kind of weak at, but would like the try someday. There were familiar sets, and I especially loved the improv jokes (Smurfs and gargoyles galore) and "Inspiration," and of course, my ever-favorite, the 3-headed Oracle.

Right on until the very end, every moment was laugh-until-your-ribs-ached funny, and I'm so glad I went.

Toff managed to catch up when the 2nd set was about to end, and Anna had even messaged to tell us that she and Santi are still going to try to catch up, even though the show was over and it was already past midnight. They still wanted to meet for the 9 Works Theatrical anniversary party (for tomorrow, Saturday), so we ended up going to the Starbucks at the gas station to talk for a while before we all called it a night.

I won't be going to that party, though. I do need quality time for my other friends, and besides, I've already been detached from the very beginning, so withdrawal isn't really a problem with me. It's a date with Lara and Dingdong tomorrow for a play and a long-overdue bonding session.

AVENUE Q is back!

Atlantis Productions bring back Broadway's hit Tony Award winning musical AVENUE Q to Manila from March 12 - 27, 2010, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.

AVENUE Q first premiered in Manila in 2007 and has had three sold out runs since then plus a hit run in Singapore's Esplanade Theatre in 2008.

Tony-winning musical Avenue Q is the hilarious and heartfelt story of a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York with big dreams and little money. He can only afford to live on Avenue Q but--good news!--his neighbors turn out to be a remarkably funny bunch of characters (and monsters!).

Described as a cross between SESAME STREET and RENT and performed by an unholy comedic alliance of humans and puppets, AVENUE Q was the winner of the 2004 TONY AWARD® for BEST NEW MUSICAL, BEST BOOK OF A MUSICAL and BEST ORIGINAL SCORE!  Featured in the cast are Aliw Award winner Rachel Alejandro, Felix Rivera, Aiza Seguerra, FrenchieDy, Thea Tadiar and Joel Trinidad.  Joining them for the first time is Calvin Millado.

AVENUE Q, with Music and Lyrics by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez and a Book by Jeff Whitty, is Directed by Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga and has Set Design by Mio Infante, Lighting Design by Jonsy Reyes, and Puppet Design by Samuel Fuentes based on the original Broadway designs of Rick Lyons. Due to full puppet nudity, parental discretion is advised.

Tickets on sale now!  Call Atlantis Productions at 892-7078 or 840-1187.

Well, that's what was written on the press material anyway.

I was fortunate enough to attend Avenue Q's bloggers preview yesterday at their rehearsal venue, and we got to watch the cast in action, performing musical numbers such as "The Avenue Q Theme," "What Do You Do With A B.A. In English?," "It Sucks To Be Me," "Purpose," and "Special."

So what new stuff will we be expecting for this run?

Joel Trinidad, who plays Nicky and Trekkie Monster, had said that "artists find new things to keep [the show] fresh. Maybe the character can do this or that... Ideally, the actors try to find something new."

After a 2-run absence, Rachel Alejandro is also back as Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut. Knowing that manipulating puppets while acting is a challenge, Rachel said that there are many ways of conveying emotions through other means. They admitted that during their first run, they mostly focused on manipulating the puppets, but after several runs, they discover more ways to do things, and Rachel put it quite well when she said, "The more you do something, the more you get confident."

Also, they've got a new Brian aboard! Calvin Millado, last seen in Atlantis Productions' Beauty and the Beast back in 2005, is stepping into the unemployed comedian's shoes as Christmas Eve's fiance.

So to those who haven't seen Avenue Q, what makes this musical so different from the other shows? Basically this is really something new (especially back in 2004, when it won over Wicked for best play at the Tony Awards), having to confront and discuss issues in a different way, through the use of puppets. Felix Rivera (who plays Princeton and Rod) had said, "That's the magic of the show. It talks about real things but it's not preachy. It's all about tolerance and acceptance."

"It's not entirely positive, even towards the end, but it still makes you feel hopeful," Rachel had added.

I've seen this musical since it first opened in Manila, because heck, I was also part of it in the beginning, and when I took a sneak peek yesterday at the beginning of their rehearsal, it still never gets old. The actors really know how to keep everything fresh.
And because we weren't allowed to take photos or videos during the preview, here's a couple of photos from when I visited the Atlantis office later yesterday afternoon.

Hahaha, it's a small version of the perverted Trekkie Monster! This little thing is a resident of the Atlantis office, and I couldn't resist taking photos with him, while he took advantage of the opportunity, hahaha!

February update.

After a month-long run, Rent Manila 2010 had finally closed. And I have to say that I'm relieved. Yes, I loved the company of the crazy people behind this production, but of course, the actual production is another story. I have my own opinions about that, which I'd rather not post here in public for now. Maybe if you ask me nicely, I'll tell you in person. That, among other things. There are stuff that I should have thought more about and should've been prepared for, but I guess we still learn, anyway. I wonder if I'm welcome to join the evaluation meeting they're going to have.

I guess got a wee bit saturated by the musical that I welcomed the day I went to see a preview of TP's Tatlong Mariya, where I was truly impressed by the ensemble work. I can't wait to watch it again.

Of course, I still have those good and bad days this past month. And the bad days are getting fewer and farther apart, which I'm really grateful for. And I owe it to all my friends that have been constantly been keeping in touch and keeping me sane. I remember having dinner with a couple of friends and assuring them and myself that I'll be fine, which eventually happened. I met up with another friend and hung out for a couple of hours at a coffee shop, and found myself smiling like crazy afterward. Three friends from the same circle came to watch a Rent show, and spent the wee hours of morning talking. Oh, the simple joys are endless if you just let them come.

I wasn't really planning on attending the cast party last night, but hey, I never hung out with them much because I always preferred to go home right after every show. Plus it would be a nice change of routine. Heck, talk about change of routine. The entire staff of the musical was called onstage after the final company call for a nice finale. We all ended up singing "Seasons of Love" to the ones who came to see the final show. (Nice seeing Ting, Patton, "Sir" Dante and Reg in the crowd, plus Gigo, Dax and Toff who started the standing ovation.)

So anyway, it was off to Toff's house for the cast party, and he got Sober Club. Woohoo! Honestly, it was my first taste of Sober Club, but I was open to anything, because heck, my clique are really hard drinkers, so it's pretty hard not to be one either, or a social drinker, at least, hahaha. Crazy actors kept emphasizing the "newly-single" status, originated by Noel, ano baaaa. I watched the others in awe as I saw them down the craziest concoctions with funny names, until I found myself strapped on someone's lap and experienced the sensation of having your mouth lit with a cigarette lighter while you still have liquor inside. Hahaha. And to think that I was in the middle of a serious conversation while this was going on.

One thing that slipped my mind was that I forgot that I wasn't paid yet for my last two shows as an usher, and I only remembered it after Carlos had left, ahaha. Oh well, next time.

Spent the entire night amidst all the crazy antics and talking, and avoiding the edge of the pool just in case someone would be tempted to push me into the pool like half the people who came to the party. Poor Robbie got thrown into the pool by OJ and ended up with his previous phone all wet and useless. Heck, Bek even woke up to people carrying her, attempting to throw her in, and only managed to escape the first attempt.

Got home just when the sun was rising at 6 this morning, and spent the entire morning sleeping.
