of first run-throughs, birthdays and theater history

We finally finished blocking Blue Jeans last Friday night. It was also Cindy's birthday, so after class, a bunch of us went to Giligan's in Malate to celebrate it. A bunch piled in RJ's car--Cindy, Princess, Joyce, Paul and Sir Nazer, while the rest of us (Gino, Guia, Allein, Christian and I) walked there.

Hahaha, Cindy and Paul were camwhoring the whole time we were there. Because they had already ordered the food before we arrived, we didn't know what to expect. Holy kamote, there was so much food! Parang bibitayin kami kinabukasan, hahahaha! There was also a band playing, and the most hilarious part was right after Princess had left with Joyce, the band played "Mahirap Magmahal," which was her song in the play. A bunch of us said our goodbyes a little after midnight, leaving Cindy with Paul and RJ. Hahaha, I heard from them that Cindy had jammed with the band and even plugged our recital!

Went to CCP early afternoon to attend the Philippine Theater History tour by Sir Dennis Marasigan. By the time I arrived at the entrance, I found Betty sitting on the steps. We took a peek inside Batute, then she went with me upstairs to the 4th floor, where the tour was supposed to start. To my surprise, not only the people from AC were there, but a whole bunch of people from the cast of ZsaZsa Zaturnnah. As it turned out, they were part of the tour (more on that later). Allein and Christian caught up with us, and after I had to go back down to pay the fee, Sir Dennis began the lecture. When we entered the gallery of musical instruments, there was a whole lot of hilarious comments from TP and the rest of us as well as we checked out all the stuff. After that, there was a little film viewing outside the gallery, then we proceeded to the Little Theater, with a side trip to the Main Theater for those who haven't seen it.

On with the lecture inside the LT, where we got to sit on risers onstage, then 3 script readings by actors of TP. First was by Carlon, Bong, Sugus and Joel, then by Cynthia and Lionel Guico, and finally by Shing and Tad.

Our final stop was the Batute Theater, where we finally got to more contemporary plays and discussed theater groups that had emerged during the time when Ferdinand Marcos was president. We got to watch another excerpt from another play, by Wenah, Tad, Bong and Marj. And of course, they ended it with a bang with excerpts from TP's hit musical, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah. Ooooh, gotta love the new Didi!

When the tour ended, Allein and I headed for the buffeteria for a bite to eat before we went to the conference hall. And by the time class started, half the class was late because of the Aliwan event. Sir Roeder decided that since we were beginning to focus a lot on the play, we did a bit of improv before we started our first run through that evening. Thank goodness for that, hahaha. I miss doing improv and even combined it with gibberish, wheee.

So on with our first run-through. Argh, I felt that I wading in mud, because it was pretty mediocre. That entrance in "Syotang Pa-class" was a mess, waaaah. I don't know how to be more girly, hahahaha! Anyway, when we were done with the run, notes galore, then a 5 minute break. Gino and I headed out to the lobby to check out if the intermediate class' recital was still going on, but by the time we got there, the show had been over for about an hour already. But we did find Betty, Tin, Carmi, JP, Jonna and Merv hanging around the LT lobby. Darn, we had missed seeing Acel and Fiancee, who were there earlier.

Another run through after the break, more notes, then I quickly left to meet with the BA gang at Teriyaki Boy. There were the people we saw at the lobby earlier, then Gem and Ian joined us as well. Listened to them talk about Betty's recital, more talk here and there. When we were done eating, we moved to Dencio's. Apparently, the TP crowd was there a couple of tables away. Anyway, at our table, we mostly talked about Ian's lovelife, and were enlighted by Carmi's advices. We stayed there until almost the entire Harbour Square closed, and then we moved again, this time outside Starbucks, with Ian, Betty, Carmi, Tin and I being the only ones left. More talk about Ian's ladies, hahahaha!

We called it a "night" when it was just Ian, Betty and I left, and we decided to head home at 4 in the morning.

Check out Tin's pics of our reunion dinner here.

more blocking

We only have a little over a week left before our recital! Holy kamote, everything's going so fast.

We were supposed to have a little pictorial in class this evening, but because Max had said that he needed more lighting, we postponed it for tomorrow evening. So we just kept blocking and choreographing the play. We had stopped the night before with "Yakap sa Dilim," and we just recalled what we had done and kept going. Holy kamote, "Salawikain" was a fun song to sing, but right after it, I had to shift to a different status.

Sir Roeder: Maganda ang breakdown scene mo, so you have to keep your character up before that.

Huwaw. Toughie, but fun.

Check out our rehearsal photos here. Hahaha, it's high time I finally got some sleep. G'night, world.

rehearsal, day 2

I'm still up. Again. I'm tired, but I'm still awake. Hahaha. I'm still digesting the pizza I ate before I sleep.

Resumed rehearsals this evening. So far we've covered 4 scenes, with 6 song numbers, complete with choreography. Oh my, I still haven't found my character's center. But Paul gave me an idea while he was watching us do "Syotang Pa-class". In fairness, it helped a lot. I just have to be consistent.

Holy kamote. I haven't quite grasped my character yet. Hopefully I can pull this off. It's not enough that I have to match Joyce's energy onstage.

The recital of the intermediate theater workshop will be this coming Saturday, featuring the people in the AC short list. I wanted to watch their show, but our class will be having rehearsals that time. Darn. Oh well, at least there's still the BA reunion dinner afterwards. I miss those guys, so I can't wait to see them.

Now I'm really tired. Time to sleep.

two workshop classes

Monday, because I didn't have class after work, I decided to spend part of the evening at another workshop. None other than Robbie's musical theater class at Rep, hahaha. Actually, I was supposed to sit in last week, but plans fell through when I found out that Mimay needed my help for her Theater 141 class.

Anyway, so there I was at Rep. Hahaha, apparently, it was also Harold's birthday. Oooh, a lotta familiar people in the class. Of course, there was Teena, Mia, Joy, Altair, Sam and a bunch of acquaintances. They were script reading that day, so I sat next to Sundee when they all sat down in a circle and started reading through Batboy. Mia had said that they were choosing between that play and The Wedding Singer, and the final verdict was that night. By the time I had greeted the birthday boy, had some cake, bid my goodbyes and was out the door, I had no idea what had happened until later in the evening when Joy had said that they had decided on doing The Wedding Singer. Oh well.

Their class was huge. Nyak, as if I wasn't part of a huge class back when I was still in Trumpets. There were over 30 of them, and I heard that their class had the most biological males, around 16. Holy kamote, that's just about the size of our class, plus one. And no offense, but they were kinda clique-ish. Everyone had their own group. As much as possible, I avoid cliques even though many can't help it, ahehehe.

This evening, for our own class, after some warm-ups and a 5-minute break, Sir Roeder started the scene breakdown of our play, complete with songs, who will sing which songs, and which characters are included in each scene. Well, our recital isn't exactly Blue Jeans, but actually just a sort of adaptation or spin-off from the original film.

Then came the tricky part. We don't have a script. We all have to improvise our lines. Holy kamote. We started with the first 3 scenes this evening, until the Pumapatak Ang Ulan with the "apat na bugoy," wahahaha.

I wonder how much progress there will be tomorrow.

how time flies

Another week had gone by. I can't believe that in just 2 weeks, we'll already be having our recital. Holy kamote, it's that fast.

Hahaha, what I'm not used to is being one of the "ates," being the 2nd eldest girl in the class. Practically everyone calls me "ate." It's so funny how at first they couldn't believe how old I am, but upon finding out, "ate" na agad. It feels weird. Last year, I was also one of the elder ones in the class, but there was no real "ate" or "kuya" even though some were just called by that title. Oh well. Plus there was this one improv exercise when Gemma and I were playing opposite each other, and then I heard someone say "Ang mga veterans" in a low voice. Nyak. Hahaha, I remember the "national artist" term that Mimay and I were known for.

Anyway, we did the character profile exercise last Friday night. Hahaha, we were brought to Harbour Square as our characters. Some came up with interesting profiles. My favorites were the fantasy princess (Guia), the Harvard student with Turrets syndrome (Gino), and the girl with leukemia (Allein). Cinderella was quite disturbing, as she had become a real disturbed Dreena who wanted to kill herself. I was afraid that she'd have a hard time shedding her character once she had stormed out of the room when she was done with her interview. Huwaw. It was amusing experience for me this year. We actually got to interact a lot during the entire walk, and during our interviews, I actually managed to flesh out my character more than I had expected.

Once again, a bunch of us wanted to go out Saturday night. After a class of "musical" freeze tag (I loved it!), analyzing a monologue, and film viewing, Gino, Gem, Minette, Allein, Christian, Guia, Cindy, Faye and I had dinner at Tapa King. One by one, Faye, Cindy, Gem and Guia had to go, and so the rest of us walked to Malate to meet with Arvin.

We first walked to Penguin, but the place was packed and no one we knew were there (except Lao who was most likely selling his jewelry), so we kept walking until we settled at Ours. Chitchat here and there, a bit of gossip and a few drinks, then we decided to change venues. Ended up at Giligan's (hahaha, bar hopping?) for more drinks and sisig. More talk, and we even tried to go around the table. Naku, ayaw nilang tantanan yung kwento ko during this gibberish/hickory dickory duck exercise. Sir Roeder kasi kept pointing it out as a good example (really???), so they wanted to know what story I was telling.

By the time we got sick of sitting at Giligan's, we went to the other corner and checked out Top & Bottom, this store above O Bar. After a while, we kept walking, not really knowing where to go. Hahaha, we ended up sitting somewhere along Baywalk, just talking and talking until the sun rose. It was so funny how we just noticed that everything was getting brighter, then decided that it was high time for us to get off our bums and go home, hahaha.

Listening to APO songs right now for our showcase. I have to study "Syotang Pa-class" (ahahahaha, comments, anyone?) and "Blue Jeans."

ready to play dress-up?

Once again, I'm still here online, awake, when I should be sleeping. Hahaha.

Arg, that "Sugarpie, Honeybunch" song won't stop playing in my head ever since our group first started rehearsing our dance. Hahaha, sometimes I think that I even memorized the other group's dance (to the song "My Humps").

Ah yes, what's with the title? One homework for AMT class is that we have to come in tomorrow as a character that we have created. We did this last year in BA, and I felt that what I did last year was too mediocre. So I wanted to do something different this year. Nothing extreme really (hahaha, no red hair and tattoes, as I had told Teena). Sir Roeder had said that it could help if we already try creating the characters that we'll be playing in our recital. Heck, I still have no idea as to what the real story of our play is, except for that "alpha female" detail. So maybe I'll start with something simple.

So yes, we're finally working on character. Holy kamote, everything's going too fast. I think we'll start with the show's script on Saturday.

Hahaha, shout out to Ria from last year's AMT class. It was great to finally meet you. I only knew her as a random face in their class when we did that mini-showcase last year, and then found her blog online. She had dropped by our class during our last hour and I finally got to meet her. Hahaha, she had brought a newspaper article about TP's 20th anniversary celebration. Aba, the Balangaw Ensemble has its own group photo, hahaha!

It's nice to finally get together with some of the AMT crowd. I was supposed to meet with Betty after class, but she ended up going home early, so I had nothing to do. Then as usual, Paul started asking around who wanted to have dinner, so we gathered a little bunch and we walked to this cheap but filling place along Estrada. Hahaha, we ended up watching and finishing the episode of Magpakailanman that was playing on the tube.

Oh no, less time to sleep. Zzzz...

tired but still having fun

I'm supposed to be sleeping right now. But here I am, still typing away in front of the PC.

My schedule's crazy, hahaha. But I'm not really complaining. I actually like it. There's always something to look forward to. Yesterday I was so glad that I arrived at CCP a little earlier than I expected, and I was thankful for the small things such as that. Then there was the crazy Oracle exercise that I loved, hahaha! I just love those improv exercises. Plus Tin and Peachy dropped by, wheee!

This evening's class was mighty interesting. I was late for class, and at first I was a little lost when they were doing this activity when I had arrived. I was kind of annoyed during the ride from Makati to CCP because of the darn traffic, but of course, my emotions changed when I arrived at the venue. Never mind that my right contact lens was giving me a problem, hahaha! And for those who read my previous entries, remember when I had mentioned that we were doing vocal exercises while doing slow time and all that? We went further this evening. Sir Roeder gave us these dance steps that we had to do while we were vocalizing. Que fun! Well, OK, I still have a problem with my singing, but when we were given those steps, you stop being conscious and everything suddenly comes out.

Hahaha, those moments with Sir Roeder and Sir Nazer during the break were funny. I had asked about a common friend, Chester, and it suddenly shifted to a brief comparison of 2 particular groups. So because of my little sharing moment, by the time we were done with the vocalizing and dancing, Sir Roeder had made a quip that was so true!

Before class ended, Sir Roeder talked about our upcoming recital next month. The day before, while we were rehearsing our respective group dances, he and Sir Nazer interrupted us and asked us to simply stand, sometimes pairing or grouping us, just looking. As it turned out, they were already casting us. Holy kamote. Typecasting? Joke, hahaha. So there, we talked about the show, which is going to be based on this 80s movie called Blue Jeans, with songs by the APO Hiking Society. I'm not really sure, something like that. It sounds mighty interesting. I haven't seen the film, so maybe I'll check it out. Then again, would watching it help us with the play or would not watching it be better? Anyway, Sir Roeder told us the synopsis as he gave us our respective characters. It was so funny! I think I got stereotyped, HAHAHAHA! Just kidding.

Mimay had dropped by our class while we were vocalizing and dancing, hahaha. When class had ended, the two of us had a quick dinner with Betty at Tapa King. Oooh, a mini-reunion of Mrs. Webb and the 2 Emilys, hahaha!

Anyway, I have to get some shut-eye. G'night world.

attempting a "first" weekly night out with the new crowd

Yesterday, Nikki and I made plans to attend the Directing Lecture series at CCP, but we didn't know that the lecture on script analysis was moved from 9am to 1pm. Hahaha, we ended up having brunch at Pancake House, then killed time at the LT lobby until before the lecture began. The speaker that day was Bart Guingona, and I loved how he spoke with such passion. Discussed points on drama, did a reading of Sir Dennis' Ang Buhay Ay Pelikula and broke down the first scene. That script was such a great selection that a whole bunch of us bought a copy of it after the lecture, hahaha.

I headed for the conference hall after the lecture, where half of my classmates (Gino, Paul, Jelli, Joyce, Alain, Princess, RJ) and I had agreed to meet an hour before class. We had made this dance where each of us had to contribute one action (based on the 8 basic efforts), and we had decided to meet an hour before class to rehearse it with music. Ended up borrowing Cinderella's (yes, that's really her name) CD while she and Gia were still waiting for the rest of their group, and with Gino's direction, managed to make the entire thing pretty quirky, and by the time class was about to start, we finally got it.

Oh yeah, I realized this week that I can actually move gracefully, hahahaha! Well, thanks to the wonders of slow time, and those stretching exercises. And the jazz walk, oh my. When we first tried the jazz walk, we were doing it barefoot, so our toes were pretty worn out by the time class ended. Last night, we were all ready with socks, hahaha. Bong even joined us for a while, que funny! And holy kamote, Sir Nazer even made us do vocal exercises while doing slow time and plies. Alaveeet!

Last year, almost our entire workshop class would always get together someplace at the end of every week just to hang out, eat, talk, drink, bond and simply just go crazy. Despite age differences, there were no gaps whatsoever. Who can ever forget those "I'm paking drunk" moments by Ian, Merv's endless requests to Jenny about mixing a drink the way he likes it, Michelle's tarot card readings and those conversations where everyone would always speak up, share their story and voice out their opinions.

I got so used to it, that I tried it this week with this year's crowd. During a free moment last Friday night while we were rehearsing our dance, I asked a bunch of people if we could hang out and eat and talk or something after our Saturday class. A couple had agreed with me, and we mentioned it again last night. Argh, most of the people had to go home. Tough. In the end, the only ones in class who were dying to do something were Gino, Paul and me. And the simplest thing we could come up with was a late dinner. Gino, though, had asked if we could wait for Minette at the LT lobby as usual. When Minette arrived, she, Jacq (sp?) and Arvin suddenly mentioned that a bunch of people from the AC class were at Penguin, and invited us to join them.

That was it, the 6 of us squeezed into a cab and headed there. Grabbed a table outside near the door and listened to this band (Brass Monkey?) that was playing inside. They were great! Wheee, the AC crowd was just at the next table. While Jacq went inside to hang with some of her friends, the rest of us stayed put and talked over sisig and tofu. Hahaha, Minette's tactless moment about Arvin was classic! "That was awkward!" HAHAHAHA!

I haven't seen Lao since the Dogeaters script reading, and he squeezed himself into our seats every now and then as we checked out his new creations. Man, I've got to hand it to that guy. I love how he manages to come up with new designs for his beaded jewelry, but I don't think I can ever pull off wearing one of those bracelets.

Sometime after 1am, when the band was done playing and most of the people were already leaving, we decided to leave as well, but we didn't leave the Malate area. We started walking around, not really knowing where to go. After a while, we ended up at Malelandia, where Arvin offered to buy everyone a round of drinks. Of course, because it was beer, I had Paul to back me up on my share. And coolness, there was a videoke machine, so Arvin, Gino and Paul had a few turns at it.

Aba, Jerald managed to catch up with us a couple of hours later because he and Lao were just at O Bar, and because Lao had his own agenda, he left him and headed over to join us. Nyak, Jerald and I wound up staying while Minette, Arvin, Gino and Paul left to eat somewhere and eventually headed for home. Ended up just talking until I finally managed to catch a ride home when the sun was already up.

Next week we're hoping to gather the entire class, plus the OJTs (Arvin's assignment) and the Beginning Acting class (Minette's assignment) for a night out together. Hopefully we can pull it off.

back in the workshop

"Failure gives you character. Too much success will make you a wimp."

I'll never forget that ever since Roeder had said it on the 2nd day of class.

With a little help from Gemma, I managed to make it to the first workshop day in CCP. This time, we decided to join Acting in Musical Theater, under Roeder and Nazer. I figured, since I managed to remove some of my inhibitions when I was in Beginning Acting (all thanks to Miss Tess and Ian), why not take it a step further? I have to admit, I was a little bit intimidated by Sir Nazer, specially when he was listening to us one by one. I didn't realize how tense I was, and before I knew it, I was going back to my old self. The one who kept holding back because I never trusted my own abilities.

It's only the first week and I just realized that Miss Tess' words from last year were true. You really have to learn and then unlearn to be a good actor/performer.

More tomorrow. I just wanted to blog a little right now just so I can make a little update on what I've been up to this past week.

"house arrest," a.k.a. bumming around

Another day at home, due to house arrest, hahaha. Well, not really. It's just that Dad had made this rule that we weren't allowed to go anywhere during Holy Week.

I woke up pretty early this morning for some weird reason and couldn't seem to fall back asleep, so after breakfast, I settled myself in front of the TV again. Out of sheer boredom, I grabbed a random CD from my room and was surprised when I realized that the CD I was holding was a burned copy of that Garahe film I had mentioned in an earlier post. Nicco had just mentioned watching it last week, and there I was, about to watch the same thing. Laughing to myself, I popped it in the player.

Yeah, the whole thing was pretty hilarious. I forgot which class they were filming it for, but it was fun being involved in the entire experience. Ferson was such a ham and made these movements that were a little big for film. Then there was Nicco, haha, who admitted that he hardly knew how to act back then. Drei sounded bulol with his Filipino, and those shorts with Mr. Arce's coat was still a classic! Rian was another one, sounding like LA Lopez way way back when he still sort of popular. As for my cameo... EW! It was awful, hahaha!

Then I decided to watch the 7th Heaven marathon on Studio 23. Man, I used to watch this all the time a few years back. Now I can't seem to keep track of what's happening. I remember back when Lucy was a sassy girl who even adopted these crazy Twiggy and goth looks, then went blonde, Mary was a basketball varsity member who almost got expelled, and Ruthie was this cute little kid with adorable curls. Now Lucy is married with a daughter named Savannah, Mary is hardly in the show, but also married with a baby, and Ruthie is dating and has become quite the stubborn teenage daughter.

Hahaha, oh, time flies even in the land of TV.

I've been attending our parish's salubong every year, but I won't be attending tonight because there will be no one here at home. I was supposed to go with my mom, then Ate Evie had arrived and wanted to go as well, so my mom had told me that I can go with Ate Evie while she stays home. But I let her go in my place instead because she's the one who wants to go more than I do. Oh well. Maybe I can pop in more videos. I told myself that I still needed to mark all those old, unlabled v8 tapes that I want to transfer to CDs.

Now I'm getting hungry again. My goodness, gluttony during Holy Week.

This is such a useless post. It shows how bored I am.

randomness during Good Friday

Started off the day by joining my mom for our parish's Stations of the Cross. This is actually the first time I've ever joined one outside the comfort of our church. It was held earlier this year, at 6am, so we can beat the heat of the morning sun.

Hahaha, sometimes at some stops, Father Gerry would make a passing quip, like, "Generous ang may-ari ng bahay ng station na ito... May naka-provide pang mga biskwit. Pwede kayong kumuha, pero ibulsa niya na lang... yan na ang lunch niyo, hahaha." Twice he said that that will be our lunch, as the house owned by the 14th station provided light snack food as well as water.

So amusing, while I was flipping channels this morning, I saw a familiar face in Playhouse Disney. Hahaha, I didn't know that Avenue Q's John Tartaglia had his own little show there. Johnny and The Sprites, it was called. Still with puppets, hahaha!

Then when I was channel surfing once again this evening, I flipped to Disney Channel when I was it was time for the Disney Channel movie. Sometimes I like checking it out if it was worth watching. When the opening began and saw animated seagulls, I started to complain that it was going to be some old cartoon. Then to my surprise, I heard the music of the opening song. It was The Little Mermaid! Hahaha! I instantly sent a message to Rosa saying so, and was about to send it to Iam as well but then I suddenly received a message from her. Hahaha, great minds think alike. We were so obsessed with the cartoon back when we were in 5th grade, our first year of being friends. Aw, senti mode.

Before Little Mermaid, I also caught The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants on this one movie channel. I liked what Bailey had said in the recording she had left in Tibby's video camera.

Maybe the truth is there's a little bit of loser in all of us you know, being happy isn't having everything in your life being perfect. Maybe it's about stringing together all the little things like wearing these pants, or getting to a new level of Dragon's Lair. Making those count more than the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it. And that's all we can ask for.

Ah yes, the little things. I've lost a lot, but I always live for those little things in life. A simple random personal message in my phone. A phone call just to say hello. A dark chocolate bar. Finding new uploaded photos by friends. Seeing another jelly doughnut in the refrigerator waiting for me. Terie snuggling next to me on my bed or just while sitting on the floor watching television. Late night chats online. Stuff like that.

I was reading my old blog entries again earlier. I came across a post back in May 3, 2003...

"...but it's necessary that Hedwig meets Tommy. Just because he's her other half doesn't mean that they're going to be together forever, nor should they be, but they need to meet. And it was necessary that she knew everyone in her life, to get to where she does: she's the sum of everyone she meets, rather than the idea that they took a piece [of her]."

I was quoting a post by Krystal, about Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Never got to see that play by Atlantis, though. Anyway, I like what Krys had said. "But they need to meet." I like that. I can't say anything more about it because the quote sort of summed up what I'm thinking. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to talk about it. Nah, not lazy. Maybe I just don't want to talk about it just yet.

a similar thing 2 years ago

Yep, like I kept saying since last Sunday, "History repeats itself."

It's like the summer of 2005 all over again.

Those who know of my dirty little secret from that time would know my situation right now. Same situation, different person. Almost the same name.

A flirt and a tease... not a good combination in my book.

What's insulting in all this is that I got there first, but now I could be labeled as second-string something.

this isn't funny at all

What are you doing, Ironman? I was pretty content as to how I've been doing these past several weeks, and now this? Heck, I was celebrating Palm Sunday this evening, not April Fools Day. I sent a prayer asking for peace of mind. Then when I checked my phone, I found a message with your name on it.

I don't know what you're doing. Heck, I don't know why I even took the bait. Are you taking advantage of my vulnerability?

This is one crazy April Fools Day.

another "road trip"

Hahaha, I practically took another road trip all over Metro Manila yesterday. This time, without the convenience of a car. What a way to spend a Saturday, hahaha. I only had one thing I had planned to do, then everything else was played by ear.

First stop was Taft. A little walking around, and I thought that Peach was meeting up with me, but she ended up getting a ride home from where she was at, so I was still alone. Then I hopped on an FX cab to Fairview. Holy kamote, that was crazy. Even though I've already been there a couple of times, I never realized how far that place was. Plus I had a ride back then. My left knee, which would hurt if I sit too long, started driving me crazy when I was already halfway there. And one annoying thing about SM Fairview is that I couldn't find any trash cans on the floor I was walking around in! The only ones I found were a couple by the front entrance. Jeez.

By the time I was about to leave Fairview, I got a text from Nicco, asking if I had any plans later that day. Heck, I had none, so we decided to meet up in Glorietta that evening. Hop on another FX to the MRT, then decided to take a bus instead so I can have the pleasure of sitting down all the way to Makati.

When I had arrived in Ayala, I had about an hour to kill before Nicco would arrive, so I spent the time in Powerbooks Live with another book that I was almost done reading. Then decided to kill the rest of time in Glorietta.

I was walking around the area of Glorietta for when I heard someone call my name. It was Ianne, one of my classmates from CSB who was in Rain's block. OK, Ianne and I weren't really all that close way back then. We only got to spend some time together just because of our film class, when I ended up joining their group because my own couldn't quite keep their heads together (no offense, but they got kinda screwed up during our first film project). So there, we just got together, and even spent a couple of nights at her house, complete with extra clothes to change in. That was my only memory of her. In our other classes, we were just two different classmates.

Anyway, back to the topic. So after bumping into Ianne, we ended up strolling around the mall, talking the time away, beginning with checking out this little exhibit in one corner of Glorietta 4 which was probably by MMA students of CSB. Our conversation started with the SDA programs, the courses we took up, how there were these new courses in the department, and finally her joy of finally getting a brand new camera that very day. She kept going on and on about how she traded her old camera for that and getting a pretty sweet bargain for something brand new. Then of course, was the perfunctory, "So ikaw, kamusta na?" That's when we both began our stories about life in general, what we've been doing, and yes, we can't ignore the subject of love and dating. We found ourselves alternately monologuing about our last dating experiences, hahahaha!

I have to say, getting to talk to Ianne was quite refreshing. I knew we were so different from each other, but it was a blast just finding someone to talk to when you're alone. Heck, before we ran bumped into each other, she was looking for someone she can share her joy with concerning her new camera, hahaha! As for me, I was just impatiently waiting for my friend to arrive.

When Nicco had finally said that he was already there (an hour after the time he had said), Ianne and I bid our goodbyes. Found Nicco in Timezone as usual. As it turned out, he just wanted to hang out while waiting for Carms as she went to watch Gay Birds with her friends. Hahaha, to quote Mercedes in the play, "Panakip butas na lang ako..." Kidding, bro! So anyway, Lye was also coming, so we spent the time playing in Timezone while we waited for her. Hahaha, we were quite a picture as he settled with his favorite tennis game and I decided to play the touch-screen game adjacent to it. We were playing our respective games as we talked loudly about the new Cinemalaya film entries, the cast of ZsaZsa Zaturnnah, and the men in my life (HAHAHAHAHA!).

Waited for Lye near the entrance of Food Choices, then we sat at a table so we can eat. I was starving, but we ended up sitting a bit longer before we began to eat because of all the stories Nicco had to tell. What's new, hehe. Like Anna had said before, Nicco will always do the talking, hahaha! But it was a blast. He opened the conversation by saying that he had watched his copy of Garahe again, and we all started talking about all the crazy things that had happened during that shoot, from the acting to reshooting everything.

My oh my. I remember those days. I was practically a bum back then, so I invited myself to hang out at their shoot. Check out this blog entry (with photos, hehe) if you want to see what we had been up to then.

After Nicco, Lye and I had gotten something to eat, our conversation drifted to other topics, with the usual beginning of talking about our chosen course and career paths to Nicco's upcoming films, to showbiz gossip, to anything under the sun. And when I said anything, it also included Lye new concoction that was originally her buko juice from Buko Ni Frutas, hahahaha!

Back to Timezone when we were done, and we let Lye try a round of Bishi Bashi before we ended up trying to join the Trivia Game thing at the entrance of Timezone, hehe. After a while, we all bid our farewell, as Lye's dad was waiting for her already, and I had to go home as well. Left Nicco killing time while waiting for Carms after hanging out with her friends.

What a day that was. And it's back to bumming today. Man, it's hot.
