When you say "forever," what does it really mean?

There are lots of quotes that people send out via text messaging, assuring friends and heck, even just acquaintances that their friendship is "forever". Well, we all wish that all friendships would stay that long, whatever "forever" means.

Now there's a thought. When you send out quotes like that, what does "forever" really mean? Because friends still drift apart, whether you like it or not, right? Some quotes even mention some hope of never changing, but that's pretty impossible, because everything changes.

Once again, let me recall a couple of year again when Nikki had said that she had hoped our friendship would last forever. I had hoped so too, but then I suddenly said to her in warning that I happen to lose and gain friends at every year at least, so I can't really count on it. Ever since I've had a lot of friends drift apart before their group came, I've resigned to the fact that I can't stay close with one group of friends, save for my high school clique, and at least one friend from each group that I encounter.

That's it. Where are most of them now? Only one or two friends from every group stay. And what's funny is that sometimes, no matter how close you were with some of them, you still end up drifting far apart from them... plus the ones you'd never expect being that close with are the ones who stay.

Back in my first couple of years in CSB, when YFC was still a new org, I was privy to some of them, until everyone started drifting apart. I was close to a handful of girls and a couple of guys, until they had to move on and leave. And surprise surprise, Kel, my partner as assistant household head, is the only one I'm in constant touch with, even though he's on the other side of the world. I can truly say that I've been blessed to have this guy as a close friend, ever since the very beginning. Hahaha, I can still remember the first time we stayed in the tamabayan alone together. I hardly said a word to him, but ended up being tight before our org's very first youth camp.

With this next group I'm about to mention, there could be some people who may want to dismiss the prime reason (hahaha!) as to how we all got to be friends. But OK, I'll say it. We got together because of a common interest in Nyoy and his group back when acoustic bands were the trend. A website and forum was created, thanks to Jill. A lot of people had joined, new friendships were fused. The forum admins maintained a strong bond, and yes, I have to admit, I was one of them. Well, we still keep in touch as much as we can. But this one's actually pretty funny. Little did I know back then that the little girl that we had poked fun at (because she was quite the fanatic with animated stories to tell in her blog) would be someone I'd hang out with often. Peachy's my constant shopping buddy and goofy confidante, plus she was the one who had recently told me that I'm such a stupid fool for doing quite a task for someone. Never mind the gap between our ages, ahehehe.

When we all had started drifting apart, I buried myself in thesis work. Of course, because we were doing a theater production, we can't avoid having to deal with a whole lot of people. I told myself to have some sort of detachment because due to past experience, I know they'd drift apart as well. But of course, I couldn't help it. I grew really close to them. Heck, one became like a brother to me. Then Nikki had said that comment about being friends "forever" that I had contradicted to. She had ended up brooding because of what I had said. And ironically, she's one of the handful of people in this particular group that I've been privy to. Specially now that Mimay's in the US until April. Plus Nicco, who, like me, drifted apart because of meeting different groups. Though in his case, he sort of has this tendency to fall out of touch (sorry, bro).

Then when I joined a workshop last year. We forged strong friendships in out class, yet smirked when we heard a juvenile class had said "friends forever" right after their showcase. I'd never thought I'd actually get to bond big time with them considering that I had a busy schedule, but I still managed to make time for them, specially on Friday nights that lasted until the following day. About a couple of months after the workshop had ended, I learned how to lose a certain ilang factor. And I thank Betty for that. I know she would always be there, specially when I need a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. In the span of less than a year, she has already seen me at my best and at my worst. She's been like the older sister that I've never had. Then there's also Tin, the younger sister I've never had. Like Betty, she's always just a text away. Even with the slightest random message, I know she's just there when I need someone to be crazy with, to cry with, or anything else. Like we had said lately, and to quote a play, "Shift... Ang galing mag-shift."

To the rest of my friends that I have met along with them, I know you're still there. I remember brooding about a year ago about people changing while I was talking to Drei, and he had said this.

If people change... does it mean that they're not your friends anymore? Did you choose to befriend that person's personality or the person himself/herself? Remember, friends are different from the people you just hang out with... Friends are the ones you cherish... Close friends are the ones you love...

I'd never thought I'd come up with this entry, hahaha. And to think that it all started by simply thinking a random thought tonight while chatting with a couple of friends that I haven't talked to in ages, and ended up talking about pretty serious topics. It just began with a shallow thought, really. But then, to quote Ari, "Sometimes the deepest of thoughts come from the shallowest of points."

To friends, both old and new, I'm truly blessed to still have you in at least one point in my life.

spur of the moment short short shoot

Yesterday, I found some weird email... Basically it was some guy ranting about some "diva system" he had experienced with some lead actor. He didn't mention a name, but there were a couple of hints that pointed to an actor that I know. What's more, the ranting guy had sent the message to some theater companies, including ours. He could just be bitching, and as the ironman had said earlier, they are mostly speculations. Pero tama ang ginawa mo, kuya. Deadma na lang.

Dropped by good ole CSB late this morning, then met up with Peachy. We had planned to have lunch together because I was there, then we decided to wait for Tin to catch up with us. While we were waiting for Tin at the "airport", Peach got a call from Jav about his film project. Hehehe, we had agreed to help him out. So when Tin arrived, after a little lunch at "this fancy place called Jollibee," we were off to Ashley's house with Jav to shoot his film project.

So there we were in Ashley's house with her and her brother Richmond (sp?), and we were all trying to figure out how to shoot the whole thing, specially because it needed some scenes with the lights out. We ended up altering the story (which Jav had just conceptualized while he was in the cab to meet us). Tin, Peachy, Richmond and I were the actors that had to improvise the whole thing the entire time, ahahaha.

For the final scene, we moved to the 5th floor of the house (most of the scenes were shot in a bedroom on the 3rd floor), and when we were done, it was time to eat! Yay, pasta! I've been having a craving for pasta, and this was an answered prayer, hahaha. Next time na lang yung Jollibee, Jav!

Chitchat mode right after eating, and I introduced them to "Jessica," HAHAHA! Mostly we just sat around, talking, until it was time to leave. Hehe, I'll never forget when Ashley found out how old I really was. She actually thought I was only 19 or 20!

Watching There's Something About Mary on some obscure cable channel. Haha, I remember when I first saw this movie back in high school. I went to the cinemas alone because I was waiting for Rosa to finish her piano lesson, which was scheduled every Saturday after my percussion lesson at the same place.

just pondering

I haven't done these birthday shoutouts in a while. First...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FIANCEE!

Here's another one, for tomorrow...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIMAY!

Ahehehe, both photos were taken at our showcase last year.

It's that time of the year again, when I get frustrated because I need to do something new. I want an extreme change of routine. I've been working for this company for 2 years now, and for some reason, I want to do something different. But the hard part in all this is that now that more work is pouring in, how can I say that I want to leave? And even more, who can take my place?

I can't wait for the weekend so I can have more time to myself to think about this.

people that my old notebooks introduced me to

I always keep an open notebook on my desk in the office, where I put my to-do list, random phone numbers I encounter from phone calls, email addresses, etc.

I remember looking through the first notebook I used. There was this name and phone number written there sometime back in October of 2005, of someone from Tanghalang Pilipino who had called the office. The contact person was inviting someone to attend some recital or audition or whatever. A week after I had taken down that name and number, I got to watch a play that was running in CCP by TP, and found out that the person who had called was in the cast, so the next time she had called back, I managed to match a face to the name. Little did I know back then that I'd actually meet and befriend the talented Wenah and the rest of the people from the world of Tanghalang Pilipino, hahaha.

I did it again this afternoon. I looked through the first few pages of the notebook I'm currently using, and actually found an oddly familiar name with an email address this time. We had received an inquiry in our email, asking if we already have a schedule for our next production. I gave a quick reply, and jotted down the email address on my notebook because I had said that we will include it in our mailing list. Then because of an interest of a hit local musical play, without realizing it, I found the exact same name owned by a blockbuyer. I had no idea last year that aside from just calling the one who emailed just a theater enthusiast, I now consider Carlo a BFF that Zshali and I can drag along with to the theater and coffee shops.

It's so funny how you get to meet people. And you'd never expect that the people you'd meet would actually turn out to be very good friends.

I was supposed to blog about something else, but suddenly the thoughts about that topic slipped my mind. Maybe when I remember, I'll post again.

Gay Birds again

Got to watch Gay Birds again, ahahaha. This time, I went with Zshali and Carlo.

We met up in Greenbelt at around noon and hung around at Starbucks, talking the hours away. Zshali had said last week that Tuxqs might come and watch with us, but when she had bought our tickets, he was still tentative. Aw, by today, Tuxqs didn't get to join us. Oh well, maybe next time.

So back to the play. I guess I'm still kinda wary about making a critique on anything, specially if I know some of the people behind it. Oh well. First thing, I have to admit that sometimes, the exchange of dialogue can be quite slow, so it can drag for a while. I guess I got used to quick exchanges, quicker pacing, ever since I learned it last year. But other than that, the lines were still funny. And get this, I actually tried to count how many costume changes Jejie had. I think he had at least 10, so maybe around 12? Hahaha, I stopped counting when I got to the 10th. Then I started wondering about the accents of the delos Reyes family. They were all different from each other. The father's had a slight Filipino accent like the rest of the cast (plus he delivered his lines too slow that I found myself waiting if he was still about to say something more), the mother had a bit of a British accent, and Diana's had an American accent. Huwaw. But of course, I still enjoyed the finale the most! Hahahaha.

After the play, we settled in Coffee Bean, just talking. Tin was supposed to follow us, but as it had turned out, she got invited to baby Nathan's birthday party at Kids at Work in Glorietta, so she couldn't really leave just yet.

Oooh, lookie. Our first BFF photo op, hahaha!

Whoops, Carlo got cut. So let's try again...

There, much better.

How appropriate that we were in Coffee Bean when we had it taken this evening, where we all first met. And while sitting at the very same table, sitting in the same positions, no less, hahahaha!

Carlo had to leave after a while, so it was just Zshali and me while we were waiting for Tin to leave Nathan's party. Half the time, we ended up singing half the songs of both ZsaZsa Zaturnnah and Rent, hahahaha! Then finally, Tin had arrived, yay. More talk, more laughs, until we decided to call it a night. But before we parted ways, another photo op...

We ended up standing outside the ladies' room, hahaha.

Lately, I still catch myself thinking about certain things. Sometimes what ifs, some random brooding. I hate it. Then I keep telling myself that it's practically the same as last year, so why do I feel crummier this year? Hello Hogi, you were pretty content when you felt the exact same thing last year, so what's so different? Maybe because... oh, stop it. Never mind.

This year began with lots of uncertainties. I didn't plan what's to happen for this year. Everything was always tentative. Most things had already fallen apart. Maybe I had expected it to, that's why things are still uncertain. Then again, maybe because I didn't set any goals for 2007.

I need something to look forward to, plus I need an outlet. Again.

Here's one more photo to end this post. When I was feeling lonely tonight when I got home, but I felt comfort in the simple joy of having someone just sitting next to me.

ask away

I sent out this text message last year, and posted it on my blog as well...

Ask me one question... Anything! No matter how crazy it is, I won't get mad, i won't tell anyone. & I promise to answer it. One time lang to, so ask wisely!

Let's see if anyone can come up with crazier questions than the ones I got last year. To the curious people, this is your chance. Nyak, as if people will really reply to this post.

Dreamgirls and others

OK, I take back what I had said in my previous entry that I had heard enough gay lingo in Gay Birds to last me a lifetime. When the dancers of BAE's The King and I went to the office this afternoon for a meeting with Miss Liza, I learned a whole bunch more just by listening to Kenneth, hahaha!

Those dancers are flying to China tomorrow. To Meliza, Cecile, Kenneth, Novy, Vinia, Victoria, Marvin and Gerlin, I wish you guys all the best! Hehehe, tingnan natin kung sino sa inyo ang unang ma-eliminate sa "bahay ni kuya", HAHAHAHA!

I still can't seem to write a proper critique about last night's preview of Gay Birds. Maybe after I watch it again on Sunday with the BFFs (and maybe Tuxqs rin daw, according to Z). But I have to say, I just love that finale! And the show got a standing ovation, coolness.

Met up with Nikki after work so we could finally watch Dreamgirls. The flick was great, Jennifer Hudson was perfect as Effie, and I envied Beyonce's figure all throughout the show, hahaha. There were a few songs that were taken out, some were added, but what I liked about the movie was that they added quite a bit more detail to the story, and then some. In the film, they gave Jimmy Early a bit more to work with, because of his drug addiction. They didn't show much of CC and Michelle's relationship, but I have to admit, Michelle coming in earlier in the plot as a secretary was something I didn't expect, hahaha. And Loretta Devine, the original Lorell in the Broadway production, had a cameo!

But my goodness, that scene where they sang "Family" was so much like a music video. Even Keith Robinson moved as if he was in a music video. Isn't a song in a musical supposed to be like a regular scene? Oh well.

I'm bored. Nothing to do tomorrow, rawr.

Gay Birds

Last night, Nikki, Misch and I went to the preview show of Repertory Philippines' production of Gay Birds. Ever since I checked out their rehearsal last week, I really wanted to see the entire thing, specially because they were doing the play in Taglish with a Filipino setting.

Holy kamote, they were hilarious! There were punchlines after punchlines, and I've heard too much of gay lingo to last me a lifetime, hahahaha! Jejie was my favorite, as I had called him a walking punchline. From his crazy entrances to his costume changes, he was quite the scene stealer every time he's onstage, donning costumes as Annie, Marilyn Monroe, a nun, and even as a formal-looking butler who can't seem to walk properly in shoes. And to think that I got kinda bored watching him in Palabas/Exit, the Virgin Labfest 2 play that I saw him in last year.

I'm watching this again on Sunday with Z and Carlo.

I'm blogging again during early morning. I wanted to write more about last night but my mind isn't fully functioning yet. I'll be back later.

my turn

Kyla: Hogs, how come you never audition?
Me: I guess don't want to give a mediocre performance.

So I tried. I choked, but I actually enjoyed it. Life goes on, and there will be more to watch out for.

What am I doing blogging this early in the morning when I should be getting ready for work?? Just wanted to post this as an update, I guess, hahaha. How cryptic.

Anyway, like I had said, there will be others to look forward to. Such as watching the preview of Gay Birds with Nikki on Thursday, and again on Sunday with the BFFs.

Now I really have to go, hahaha. I have to beat those early birds at the shuttle terminal.

(Hahaha, still can't get the word "bird" out of my system since Betty started using it frequently last year.)

funny audition moments

Mimay's comment on my last entry inspired me to post the funny moments at the auditions. Even though I posted some of them already in my previous post, I'll add them here.

Kyla: What am I doing here with all these dancers? I don't belong here, Hogi.
Tara: (Minutes after Kyla had left) Anong ginagawa namin dito, Hogi? Puro mga dancers ang mga andito.

The next day...
Tara: Anong ginagawa ko dito, Hogi? Puro mga singers ang mga andito.
Me: Parang sinabi mo na yan kahapon ah.

Arnold, at registration, after singing a few bars of "We Kiss In A Shadow" while Caisa was practicing it on the piano.
Arnold: Anong role nga ba? Ano yun? Tuptim? (suddenly writes "Tuptim" on the blank)
Miss Bernice and I: Ano ba!? Girl's role yan!
Arnold: Eh hindi ko naman alam yung mga role dito eh.
Me: Lun Tha.
Miss Bernice: Alam mo ba spelling ng Lun Tha? (spells it out as Arnold writes it on his audition sheet)
Miss Bernice: Hahaha, sasabihin ko ito kay Bobby.
Arnold: Wag! Sabihin mo na lang after ng audition ko. Pagtatawanan lang nya ako sa loob eh.
Sure enough, Miss Berns just had to tell Bobby before he had to go inside.

After his audition...
Miss Bernice: Callback si Arnold.
Me: Tuptim no?
Miss Bernice: Yes, yun ang bigay mo.
Me: O, Tuptim. Baka maiwan mo ulit bag mo.

Reb: Felix, you were a Candy Cutie?
Felix: Hogi, they're picking on me.
Me: Don't look at me, I'm just being amused here.

Text message.
Arnold: Hi hogi, lapit nko..dami b kami calback 4 tuptim? Ay luntha pala!!!?
Me: Okie. Konti lang competition sa tuptim, so cguro shoo-in ka na dun, hehe. Lun tha..9 kayo eh,mostly bata pa talaga.
Arnold: Hahaha!! Laos!! Kukuha b tlaga cla d2 or hanap p s ibang country?
Me: Yep,i think kukuha din sila dito, pero not sure.

Caisa: Are they really getting people from here?
Me: Yes, I think so.
Caisa: But are they still getting people in other countries?
Me: Yes, they might.
Caisa and Felix: Oh OK. I guess that's it then.
Hahahaha! The look on their faces were classic.

Arnold: (talking about Zsazsa's upcoming restaging) ...pero sa RCBC na. Liit ng Batute eh. Maski mommy ko di nakapanood.
Hogi: Bakit naman kasi sa RCBC?
Arnold: Bakit? Atlantis lang ba may karapatan sa RCBC?
*bonk*
Me: Nyak, hindi no.

Miss Bernice: Arnold, you're next.
Arnold: (scrambles to get up) Ako na? Teka lang! (rushes to the door, then realizes he still has gum in his mouth) May scratch paper ba dyan?
Suddenly he grabs at the sign-up sheet.
Me: Wag dyan! (Suddenly finds some paper)
Arnold spits out the gum and sticks it on the paper, while I was still holding it, then runs out of the room, leaving me to dispose of it. Ew.

This doesn't seem like funny audition moments to me. Looks more like "Arnold moments" hahaha! Crazy guy. There, let's see you find this blog entry, as you have been looking for it, hehehe.

3 days of auditions

For 3 days, I've been at the Steps Dance Studio for Broadway Asia's King and I dancer and singer auditions. Old and new faces come in every day as they show what they got in front of Bobby, Michael, Bill, Susi and Cassey. I got the opportunity to be with the auditionees right before they meet with the panel.

There was too much going on during these 3 days, so it's time to go back to bullet points.

Wednesday, Dancer auditions

  • I saw a couple of people who had already auditioned last year, and came back for another try.

  • Having to go back to the office to get a second keyboard, and ending up not bringing the power supply with me.

  • Kyla sitting next to me and saying, "What am I doing here with all these dancers?" and hearing the exact same thing from Tara some time after Kyla had left her seat.

  • Red being the last to sign up, thinking that he'd be the only person to audition in his "group" because of how it had looked like in the sign-up sheet.

It was great to see that a lot of dancers had signed up to audition. A much better outcome compared to last year's dance auditions. Some even came earlier than we did, including Marj. I don't know who had said it, but I was told that dancers have more discipline than actors. Hmmm... I wonder if that's true. Oh well.

While Kyla was sitting next to me, she even asked me about this certain audition. Well, I guess I've been asked that a few times already, but now that I think about it, I guess I haven't put much thought into it.

Thursday, Singer auditions

  • What's amusing was that I knew almost all of the people, if not personally, just by face.

  • Miss Berns telling a story about someone from Dreamgirls that I didn't know about.

  • Tara, giving the same line from the day before, but changing the word "dancers" with "singers," ahehehe.

  • Combing the area for a photocopy machine and being directed to different places.

  • Sitting in the lounge area with my lunch, just watching the BlueReppers amuse themselves.

  • Lana finding out that this is a production of The King & I, not The Lion King.

  • Mayen scribbling lyrics to her song onto the palm of her hand.

  • Arnold's sign-up moment.

Ahahaha, yeah, that last one was my favorite because it was so hilarious. Arnold had come in to sign up and heard Caisa at the piano practicing her callback as Tuptim. He sang along with her, not knowing that Tuptim was a girl's role. So when he had signed up, he wrote in the blank that asked for roles that the auditionee thinks would suit him/her, he wrote down "Tuptim," HAHAHAHA! As it turned out, he didn't know who the characters in the play were. Of course, Miss Berns just had to tell what he did to Bobby right before he had to come in. Ayan, na-callback si "Tuptim," hahaha. Well, at least he didn't forget his bag like the last time.

After that day, I went to Onstage Theater to check out a rehearsal of Gay Birds. I already knew that the play was going to be set in the Philippines, but I was actually surprised that the dialogue was in Taglish. As it turned out, this is the second play that Repertory Philippines will be doing in Taglish. But it was so funny that Topper had to play the straight guy, hahaha.

It was also Boyd's birthday the day before, so he had brought pasta that he made. Oh man, it was so scrumptious! Thanks for the pasta, Boyd! And belated happy birthday!

Friday, Singer and Dancer callbacks

  • Because it was only for callbacks, this is the quietest day.

  • Well, not really, because the singers were practicing all over the entire Studio 2, hahaha.

  • Ninoy putting off his sign-in so he won't be called in right away.

  • Yellow Cab pizza for lunch! And I added pesto pasta so I got really "happy food"!

  • Arnold asking for the address of my blog is, right after I had said that I can be a "notorious critic."

  • And another crazy moment: He had forgotten to take out his gum right before he was called in to the other room. While he panicked, I found a scrap of paper and he stuck it there, while I was still holding it and he left it with me!

  • A little mixup with the 2nd keyboard, having it brought back to the studio after it had already been picked up, just so Michael can do some work.

  • Forgetting the leftover pizza at the studio when the auditions were over. Rawr...

All in all, even though I was always on my toes and a bit spacey, I still had a blast.

I need to sleep. I think I'm developing a cold and my head's kinda hurting.

Anghel ng Kamatayan

After work, Betty, Nikki and I went to UP Diliman to watch Carmella and Kath's thesis play, Anghel ng Kamatayan. The play was scheduled at 7pm, and we had left Makati a little past 6. Even though we took a cab, we got caught in a little bit of traffic and arrived about 15 or twently minutes after 7. The theater was already dark and full by the time we got there, but amazingly I found Fiance in the dark and he let Nikki and us sit in his place. Betty found another seat next to her friend Vim.

About 10 minutes into the first scene, I realized how familiar the lines were. It was another version of Besame Mucho, this showcase I saw by Actors Company last October, featuring Wenah and Marj as the two lead girls. Funny, I understood this version more than the one by AC. Probably because there was too much going on in AC's version.

Congrats to Carmella and Kath! You guys finally did it! Congrats din to Nicco, ahahaha. I still can't get over that turntable that had a life of its own because of your sounds, hehe.

After the show, there was food in the lobby. Nikki, Betty, Fiance, Nicco and I spent most of our time in the lobby just talking. Mostly catching up on each other's news, and mostly Nicco's news, as usual, hahahaha!

I had a great time just being with these friends that I love. Carms, I owe you again! Babawi ako sa inyo ni Kath ulit, promise!

HSM with BFFs

Ever since last week, Carlo, Zshali and I have been trying to get together but it seems that things keep falling through. We finally got our chance yesterday. We were supposed to meet up in Makati because Z had a craving for something in Coffee Bean, ahehehe.

Then by Satuday evening, Carlo and Micah had decided to watch the last show of Blue Rep's High School Musical. So last minute change of plans, we all decided to meet up in Megamall instead. Then by Sunday morning, Z had also decided to watch as well, hahaha.

When we had met up in Megamall, we first went to Ticketworld so they can buy tickets, then we were off to Starbucks for our long-awaited gab session. Per usual, Z did most of the talking, with all her funny stories, punctuated with Carlo's funny quips. And every time we ask Carlo to share something, the whole conversation would revert back to Z! Hahahaha! Plus Micah hardly talked, ahehe. And to think that she's one of the most frequent poster/commenter (is there such a word???) in our Multiply pages.

Anyway, when it was already half an hour before the show would start, we headed for the cinemas. Z, Carlo and Micah fell in line while I was herded by Mia to the tech booth, where I was to stay with her, ahehehe.

There were already a lot of people in the booth, and the only familiar people I knew aside from Mia were, Chari, Andrei, Felix and Mahar. Watching Mia slip her headset on and off made me miss the action of being part of the crew. I remembered the "chat room" we established before and during open house during our Doubt days, talking about practically anything under the sun, from songs about women to Mia's questions about being in professional technical theater.

There were last minute things before the show finally began, then I settled in my place, even though I was just standing against the wall, hahaha. Anyway, the audience was pretty receptive that day. And there were so many kids waving their hands in hopes of getting called during the audition scene. And speaking of the audition scene, I still can't help but laugh every time I hear the music in the beginning because it reminded me so much of Chorus Line's "God, I Hope I Get It."

Oh no, I'm going to comment about the lights. Sorry Johnsy! It's just that there were some scenes where some of the cast members get too many shadows on their faces. Like say, those classroom scenes. Oh well, I'll let it slide. There aren't any levels anyway. As for the set, the bleachers were mighty impressive. Versatile as well because it's easy to change each scene from a gym to the school hallway and library. Minimal but it worked. But when it came to the cafeteria scene, it was just too much to handle. It was already a little too much because of the big cast, and then there was the additional set pieces, so the entire company was sort of pouring out the stage. But they used the space pretty well. Sounds contadictory, but hey, that's what I saw.

This got me thinking. Each of the lead characters have their own story, be it in the play or in the movie version. But in the play, Ryan was more fleshed out. Ryan was too much like Sharpay in the movie version, so it showed in the detention scene that he was always hidden in Sharpay's shadow. And ooh, was that a moment between him and the skater-dude-cum-cellist? Hahahaha! Kidding.

After the show, I met up with Z, Carlo and Micah in the totally crowded lobby. Hahaha, we even teased Carlo about his wanting to have a photo taken with Karel. Anyway, we had nothing much to do by then, and Z and I were getting kind of hungry. After walking around a little too much in search of a place to eat, we ended up at the food court instead, hahaha.

Ooh, Z was texting Tuxqs during that time, and I think we can borrow his DVD of Temptation Island. I've been pretty curious about that, so I can' t wait to see it. Thank you!

just one of the guys

Ooh, another entry.

I was browsing through my friends blogs when I came across Dave's entry about last night, when he, Ace and I hung out and went to watch Music and Lyrics in Greenbelt.

Not having interacted with Hogi for so long, I had nearly forgotten how much more fun she is in person. As amusing as she is when you chat with her, it's her real-life 'hyper-ness' that's really amusing. She loves to act out character rolls with gestures, she enjoys quoting lines from books and plays, and I love her flashy-quick movements when she does her thing which sorta makes you want to step back so you don't get 'hit' but you wanna stay close 'cause she's projecting at a vocal level that doesn't have other people looking badly at her for making too much noise.

It was pretty flattering to read something like that about yourself. Yesterday was pretty crummy for me because of the thought that it was yesterday. But then hanging out with these two guys reminded me how fun it was to be one of the guys again. I used to be always "just one of the guys" and loved it simply because I can just be myself.

still living hopefully ever after

Back on this day, last year, I went to watch Blue Rep's production of Sweet Charity. So how appropo, I went to SM Megamall this afternoon with Ate Sally to watch their production of High School Musical. This is my second time to watch the show, hehehe. Thanks again to Hendri and Chari!

I was actually glad to have a better view of the stage, because last week, I was sitting on the 2nd row of orchestra right. Holy kamote. Our seats for today's matinee was in orchestra center, yay. Though the stage was still crowded because of how big the cast is. Other than that, it was still fun to watch.

Anyway, back to how I began this entry. I mentioned "back on this day" when I went to watch Charity. I just remembered one line in that particular play that went, "And she lived hopefully ever after." Plus that "fickle finger of fate," hahaha. Hmmm... hopefully ever after. I like that. In a way, I do live like that. Specially even now, maybe, hahaha.

I spent half of last year just probing around when it came to a new relationship. I've been a martyr for quite a long time, holding on to something for almost 2 years that I didn't realize that something else was brewing. I welcomed the new joy, but I still held on to the past. Someone had told me he loved me, but it took me a long time to realize that I had already stopped living in the past and was feeling something else. In the end, I lost both.

I really should learn to stop living in the past. I'm still living "hopefully ever after," no matter crazy it may sound.

Oh yeah, a belated happy birthday to the self-proclaimed ironman.

Tomorrow will be a good day. I just know it.
